Sleepless Night In Bristol

Sleepless Night In Bristol. So its 03:47 in the morning but I have been awake since 02:21 having fell asleep around 22:30. I am in a comfortable bed here at the Novotel City Centre, Bristol as I wait to start Day 5 of 5 on a multi-day tour of England.

My route today will take me from Bristol to London via a few hours in Bath followed by some more hours in Stonehenge and then finally in Hammersmith, London.

Before drafting this post, I updated the products available on the Tours-UK website and spoke to my partner and a few friends via Whatsapp.

I think it takes a special type of person, maybe with a degree of insanity to choose a career that supports others. Whether it’s in the medical or leisure industries, exposing yourself to others who depend on you is challenging but can also be rewarding.

In most cases one has to go above and beyond for little to no appreciation but if you’re similar to me its easy to recognise that the individual or group are out of their comfort zone and/or not had their expectations met so they express themselves at you because you’re the face in that moment.

One of my group feel ill yesterday as we visited Stratford-upon-Avon (which I affectionally call Shakespeare country)  and went to Stratford Hospital for treatment but unfortunately they were unable to return to me by the extended time so I had to leave them behind with options to meet us here in Bristol at the hotel. I haven’t any news to date but I hope all is well.

Hence the need for Travel Insurance… I have experienced some medical episodes during my decade of touring..

I am considering flying my drone at dawn to capture some footage of Bristol as I haven’t done so to date and I am way behind this week on posting destination content on my socials.

There’s so much to do but I am always driven and that’s possibly why my sleep is so erratic. I am responsible for the group who are touring with me, I am thinking about the next steps in launching Tours-UK in time for the 2026 season, my whiteboard at home is constantly revised and with the support from Elaine, my crew, kids and business partner Shah who all are in similar supportive roles in their respective fields things will happen.

Now I’ve shared these thoughts, hopefully I’ll sleep?
